Heaven’s Dew

There is a stone-crusted shell that is my heart.
Soft words do echo in its chambers, 
and though it’s as empty as the tomb,
still I have no room for you.

There is a block of ice that is my heart,
crystal clear, reflecting an abyss,
and though it’s as cold as was your corpse,
still I am too prideful for your warmth.

There is a rotting wood that is my heart,
caving in my chest in all its weakness,
and though my posture towards you is cross,
still you were willing to bear my curse.

There is a tree of death that now is life;
a stone removed that blocked two realms extreme;
an eternal warmth that quenches the flames of hell
and replaces ringing tragedy with wedding bells.

And now because of love divine,
a lifeless man can escape certain death;
a hardened man can softly start anew,
and with my fleshly lungs taste heaven’s dew.
