Life Update: Just Married
This past month has been a whirlwind. It’s hard to comprehend that I have emerged from the craziness of this busy season with a wife, especially one so godly, kind, compassionate, pure, caring, gentle, loving, and absolutely breathtaking. I am truly blessed more than I could ever put into words, but I’ll try to convey a small portion of my gratitude in this brief newsletter.
Bella and I have been together for over two years now, and on Monday, June 1st, we created a covenant with one another in front of a wonderful crowd of friends and loved ones. We have been loved and supported so graciously and generously during this season, and we are thankful for all of the incredible people we have in our lives.
By the time our wedding day came around, the spare room in my apartment was overflowing with gifts from kind-hearted loved ones.
Since then, Bella has worked tirelessly to transform our apartment into a warm and welcoming home. I’ll be honest, I was skeptical at first. I’m a pretty particular and minimalistic guy, and it was my understanding that my apartment already had everything it needed.
But I trusted Bella with the process and let her work her magic. I now understand that my version of adequate is deeply misguided and sorely lacking (which is probably why I already consider myself an adequate husband). Our place has had an extreme makeover, yet remains neat and organized rather than cluttered and overly-crowded.
It still feels surreal that we get to call it home, and I am filled with peace whenever I walk through the door.
I think one of the reasons our home brings me so much peace and satisfaction is because of how its physical transformation is a perfect representation of the way Bella has also altered me from within. I, too, have been made into a more suitable home because of her, and there is more peace within myself because of the work she has done as my partner these past two years.
I am so lucky to have her as my wife, and we are both so lucky to have all of you praying for us, supporting us, rooting for us, and encouraging us. We are in the process of writing more appropriate thank you notes for all that you have done, but for now I wanted to share a snippet of how our life together has been so far. May all our days be as beautiful as the ones we are living now.
Proverbs 31:10-31 An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life. She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands. She is like the ships of the merchant; she brings her food from afar. She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and portions for her maidens. She considers a field and buys it; with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard. She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong. She perceives that her merchandise is profitable. Her lamp does not go out at night. She puts her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle. She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet. She makes bed coverings for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple. Her husband is known in the gates when he sits among the elders of the land. She makes linen garments and sells them; she delivers sashes to the merchant. Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.

Well, that was lovely —and it certainly seems Bella has made a wise and wonderful choice (and obviously, vice versa.)
Congratulations, Alex and Bella! May his joy be your river keeping your love ever green. 💚
